Something about Agnes Pareyio, the founder and director of the Tasaru Girls Rescue Centre in Narok, Kenya

Agnes is a force of nature, an enigmatic Maasai woman who drives the anti-FGM movement around Narok. Here she is being interviewed by a Danish documentary crew doing a film on female genital mutilation around the world. Agnes is my dear friend & I stay and volunteer at the rescue centre at her pleasure. She jokingly described the two of us as "quarrel wives" once - a reference to how the multiple wives of a traditional Maasai man often relate to each other.

Agnes has withstood alot in her long battle to end FGM/forced childhood marriage among her people.
